GiGL Data Searches

Introduction

The GiGL data search service is a ‘one-stop shop’ for those seeking comprehensive biodiversity and open space information for any area within Greater London (check Our Area). Each search draws on the vast database held by GiGL and the report and maps are designed to highlight important species and habitats.  This service is primarily aimed at environmental consultants and other commercial users.

Some of the GiGL partnership’s species data are made available at a low resolution via the National Biodiversity Network’s Gateway, but our data search reports are the only way to access GiGL data at a high enough resolution to determine if they fall within a site search area.

Members of the public or students may find the WIMBY tool useful.  This is a lower resolution, but free, tool for finding species in London.  Alternatively please contact us to discuss more detailed data requirements.

GiGL does not charge for information but reserves the right to charge for the time it takes staff to extract, analyse and supply data. The current commercial rate is £250+VAT/hour.

For more information go to Data Search FAQ, read our page about the upgrades to the service since April 2011 or read our newsletter article about new improved reporting. And for more information about the what? how? and why? of sharing your data with local record centres click here

You need to be a registered user of GiGL’s website to use the data search service. Please log-in or register to gain access to the data search request form.
