Use of data

My data can be used by GiGL:*	I agree I disagree	Expand/Collapse Use statement: Note that by supplying your record to GiGL you are agreeing that the information will be managed and disseminated in accordance with GiGL Access to Data policies. The fundamental principle of which is towards making available all records, no matter how sensitive, with the appropriate interpretation. However, access to records will be restricted where general availability could pose a real threat to species or habitats, or would compromise the supply of data. GiGL maintain a list of sensitive species for which the general release of data could pose a risk to the species or its habitat, and will apply necessary constraints to data relating to these. This list will be maintained in consultation with GiGL's Steering Group and Advisory Groups. Data owners or originators are invited to define any confidential records. There are 3 main ways that GiGL data (including your record!) is disseminated: 1. General public and the Press. The most convenient way for the general public to access GiGL data is via the WIMBY (What’s in my backyard) functionality (click here). 2. Customers. We produce around 400 data search reports per year, the majority of which are for consultancies in relation to land management or planning applications. No raw data is provided to customers, simply an indication whether a species is near the area of interest. We do not charge for the data that these reports are based on but for the time involved in producing them. 3. Partner organisations (for full list click here) are given full access to data in whatever format is most useful (frequently GIS).

Grid Reference - Please provide a 6-figure OS alpha-numeric grid reference of the centre-point of your site (e.g. TQ189568). 2. Easting / Northings - provide only as an alternative to Grid Reference. Format should be 2x six figure numbers separated by a comma (e.g. 525623, 162057). In London the first number will always begin with a 5 and the second with a 1. 3. Postcode - provide only as an alternative to Grid Reference. 4. The site name.
