The sale of ivory dated after 1947 is banned under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). The officers entered the shop, confirmed that offences had occurred, arrested the seller and seized a range of items similar to those displayed here. The seller was formally cautioned, and some of the items are now used by the Metropolitan Police for education purposes.
