Site Background
The River Shuttle is a small tributary of the River Cray. It rises in Avery Hill and Eltham in Greenwich and runs through Bexley. It is heavily modified; modifications include realignment, re-sectioning, bank protection and the installation of weirs and other structures. Management of the river and riparian land is intensive and due to the the flashy nature of the river, flood risk is considered high.
