Description

A small ancient woodland overlying clay-with-flint soils and surrounded by agricultural fields to the east of Biggin Hill. The woodland is privately owned, however a public footpath provides access through the northern section. The southern section is skirted by a by-way.

Wildlife

The tree canopy consists mainly of oak and birch, with some mature beech trees amongst them. Sweet chestnut, rowan, ash, yew, holly and whitebeam also occur, with hazel and hawthorn coppice. The wood also supports abundant bluebell and frequent patches of wood-sorrel.
