A pleasant pond adjacent to the hustle and bustle of High Road, Ickenham.

Wildlife

This small pond adjacent to High Road, Ickenham, has reasonable plant diversity in spite of the local dominance of exotic species. These include New Zealand pigmyweed (Crassula helmsii) and parrot's-feather (Myriophyllum aquaticum). A variegated form of reed sweet-grass (Glyceria maxima) is locally abundant, as is great reedmace (Typha latifolia), with yellow iris (Iris pseudacorus) and pendulous sedge (Carex pendula) frequent and occasional false fox-sedge (C. otrubae). The pond edge also supports nettle (Urtica dioica) and great willowherb (Epilobium hirsutum). Around the edge are scattered grey willow (Salix cinerea), crack willow (S. fragilis) and dogwood (Cornus sanguinea) with short-mown grass. Lichens are present on the stone blocks that line the pond edge.
