Project description
Langley Park has significant NFM potential: it is an open space managed by Bromley Council with limited public access. There are two river channels: the concrete-lined East Beck (600m) and the more natural Main Beck (280m). NFM measures would include concrete removal and remeandering of the East Beck, and bank reprofiling, floodplain reconnection, wetland creation and installation of in-channel woody features for both channels. These measures would replace woodland and grassland habitats (note, some woodland would not be replaced and instead thinned to let more light in). These NFM measures will reduce the flood risk experienced by the properties and roads around Kelsey Park as well as the properties and roads around Cator Park (Lennard, Reddons, Aldersmead, Kings Hall Roads). There is already match funding for a project here through a Thames21-managed project funded by Thames Water Enforcement Undertaking. Additionally, the project is likely to get EA WEIF funding.Feedback
