Area: 6.62 ha

Description

Albert Road Recreation Ground boasts many fine old trees, particularly along its northern edge. The site won a Green Flag Award again for 2020. Noel Park Healthy Walkers project uses this site as part of the Walking the Way to Health (WHI) scheme.

Wildlife

The site is largely short mown, but contains areas of rough grassland and planted birch woodland. It also contains a few fine mature oak trees. The main nature conservation interest is a row of old oaks and hornbeams, interspersed with hawthorn, along the northern edge of the recreation ground. This is probably a relic of an ancient hedge.
