Area: 0.61 ha

Description

This is a delightful small public garden tucked away behind tall mansion blocks in Mayfair, with a particularly secluded atmosphere. Mount Street Gardens won a Green Flag Award again in 20089.

Wildlife

There are several very old London plane trees, with other trees including sycamore, ash, Lombardy poplar and horse chestnut. Recent planting includes some interesting non-native trees such as dawn redwood and contorted willow. There is a fair amount of shrubbery for the size of the garden, including snowberry, spotted laurel, weigela and hibiscus: sufficient to provide nesting cover for a pair of robins. Other breeding birds include blackbird and starling, and great tits are frequent visitors. The birds are noticeably tame. A bird feeder and water bath are provided. Flowerbeds contain abundant scented flowers.
