Wildlife

Patches of common nettle and ruderal herbs in the semi-improved grassland provide good habitat for grassland butterflies such as the meadow brown and common blue, small mammals and possibly reptiles. The fields are divided by mature species rich native hedgerows comprising English and hawthorn. The structurally diverse secondary woodlands are dominated by pedunculate oak and ash with patches of bracken in the herb layer. A well vegetated brook runs through the woodland. Plant species include red campion, wild angelica and water-pepper. Two overgrown ponds are located within the site, one overgrown with Willows and scrub, whilst the other has been de-silted. A diverse range of bird species have been recorded at the site.
