Ornamental and native shrubs have been planted on this sloping mound overlooking the North Circular Road. A more mature section of scrub already exists in a little ravine following the path alongside Best Way, a far more sheltered option for wildlife.The scrub includes cherry laurel, hawthorn, hybrid hawthorn, elm, bramble, elder and buddleia. Decaying hawthorn timber provides a valuable resource for insects. Wild flowers around the scrub margins include wormwood, comfrey, black nightshade, hemlock, white melilot and black horehound.Kestrels can be seen hovering overhead, hunting for small mammals in the grassland and alongside the road.
