Gibbons Recreation Ground occupies about 4 hectares. The irregular shape includes access via footpaths to several roads and to other local urban green spaces. It is totally surrounded by the urban environment, including two housing estates, other housing, roads, and two schools: a primary school and the Swaminarayan School. A power station dominates the view to the south, and the Hindu, Swaminarayan Temple to the west. A canal feeder snakes along the southern perimeter of the recreation ground and there are three local allotment sites nearby and Brentfield Open Space.
