Dulwich Park covers a huge area and is packed with historic features, exciting facilities and perfect picnic spots. Created in 1890, this park started life as farmland. A group of meadows known as ‘five fields’ and many of the ancient oaks, which were used as boundary markers, survive today. Dulwich is considered by some to have been the forerunner of modern country parks. Queen Mary was a regular visitor, and one of the park entrances ‘Queen Mary’s Gate’ is named after her.The park is very popular with both local residents and those from further afield. Many local attractions cater for visitors, including the renowned Dulwich Picture Gallery which is located right next door to the park.Vehicle access within Dulwich Park is only available to Dulwich Park users who hold a Blue or Orange Badge, a letter from a doctor stating that their mobility is impaired and they are over 64 years old or a document that proves they receive an Attendance Allowance.
