Project description
Riverview Walk is just upstream of the more natural Linear Park. The river in Riverview Walk has already been improved within the last 20 years however the channel is still concrete-lined. Therefore, implemented NFM measures would include concrete removal from the bank and channel bed, bank reprofiling, remeandering, wetland pond creation and in-channel woody features. Flood storage improvements will combine well with the flood storage capacity of the offline Bell Green Pond (at the downstream end of this stretch), which was restored in early 2023. Improvements will benefit the many pedestrians and cyclists who use this area, and it will provide an important ecological corridor connecting Linear Park to the upstream reaches of the Pool. Flood risk will likely be reduced in the area around Catford and Catford Bridge Stations, which includes the properties and important roads (A205, A21 and Catford Hill Road).Feedback
