Project description
The Kyd Brook, a tributary to the Quaggy in the upper reaches of the sub-catchment, flows through Crofton Woods before entering Petts Wood Town, where 35 properties were flooded in 2019. Crofton Woods has a SSSI designation, however the EA have been in discussion with Natural England and the latter have confirmed that NFM measures may be implemented here. The Kyd Brook is a narrow channel in this area, and so proposed measures include leaky dams and bank reprofiling. This project is in its very initial stages, therefore a full proposal of NFM measures has not been created, and consequently design storage volume and land-use changes are also not known. NFM measures implemented here would reduce the flood risk to properties and roads near Petts Wood Town and Station.Feedback
