Description
Wildlife
The Barking section of the River Roding is semi-tidal, with considerable areas of exposed mud at low tide. Vegetation at the water's edge includes sea aster, wild celery, water dock and hemlock water dropwort, all rather scarce in London. Himalayan balsam is abundant. The river supports a good diversity of fish, including eel, stickleback, pike and flounder. The reeds support nesting reed warblers. Other birds present include the specially-protected kingfisher, and small numbers of migrant ducks and waders.Facilities
