Description
Wildlife
The park contains a good number and range of mature trees, mostly London planes and common lime, with a few silver birch, Swedish whitebeam, poplars and wild cherry. Hedges and shrubbery provide further habitat for common birds. In the north of the park is an area of long grassland, surrounded by a native hedgerow and a variety of scattered trees. The grassland is dominated by cock's foot, wall barley and Yorkshire fog, while the hedgerow consists of native species such as hawthorn, dog rose and elder. This, alongside the mature trees, provides good habitat for nesting birds, such as blackbird and house sparrow, and possibly roosting and foraging bats.Facilities
