Access: Free public access (part of site)
Area: 3.23 ha

Description

Pondfield Park is a formal park providing vital green space for residents of Dagenham East. Public access to nature could be enhanced by habitat improvements in the park, and by allowing access to the railway land, which is separated from operational railside land by a fence.

Wildlife

The site is dominated by amenity grassland and scattered trees. The London notable species Spotted medick occurs here. To the south east of the park, a small wooded area has been planted with native species such as rowan, ash and field maple. This woodland provides good nesting habitat for common birds. An adjacent area of land owned by Network Rail provides dense banks of bramble which are attractive to a variety of common birds and invertebrates.
