Description

This site is an area of grassland and small ponds with reedbeds. Thamesview Golf Centre closed in 2014.

Wildlife

The former golf course is an area of mostly heavily mown semi-improved acid to neutral grassland, with areas of planted woodland dominated by poplar and small ponds with reedbeds. Notable plants include bird's-foot and hare's-foot clover. Breeding birds include green and great spotted woodpeckers, reed warbler, coot and moorhen. A good diversity of birds visit in winter and on passage, including kingfisher, meadow pipit, snipe and a wide variety of warblers. Invertebrates include the wasp spider.
