Description
Wildlife
The woodland is predominantly birch, field maple, ash, beech, Scots pine and sycamore. Amongst the ground flora is cow parsley, wood melick, dog's mercury and a few bluebells. The scrub contains hawthorn, blackthorn, buddleia, old-man's beard, dogwood, elder, yew, wayfaring tree, bramble and hazel. The grassland on the cliff face features mouse-ear hawkweed, oxeye daisy, bird's-foot-trefoil, wild parsnip, salad burnet, chalk milkwort and field scabious. Also to be found here are restharrow, marjoram, eyebright, yellow-wort, fairy flax, sainfoin, kidney vetch, red valerian and goldilocks buttercup. The species listed here are just the ones that are relatively easily surveyed, and even more exciting species likely exist around the quarry.Facilities
