This site lies along both sides of the Hayes Bypass, the remains of a formerly more extensive area of semi-natural grassland and scrub. The woody vegetation is quite varied in species composition and structure. Some areas have originated from landscaping associated with the road building and other areas have arisen more spontaneously.

Description
Wildlife
Some of the scrub is quite dense and therefore undisturbed, especially an area in the middle of the western site which provides secure nesting habitat for birds. The areas of grassland are managed differently in different parts of the site giving rise to a variety of habitat conditions. The more frequent wildflowers here include wild carrot, hogweed, bristly oxtongue and creeping cinquefoil.Facilities
