King Square Gardens
Borough: Islington
Grade: Local
Access: Free public access (all/most of site)
Area: 1.25 ha

Description

Although not strictly a ‘town square’ of Regency or Victorian origins, this is one of the largest open spaces in the south of Islington borough and is overlooked by several tall residential estate buildings. Open lawns partitioned by borders and shrubberies surround a central playground, covered way and paved sitting-out area. The garden is a popular place with local residents.

Wildlife

The high density of trees offers plenty of cover for common birds. Tree species include limes, horse-chestnuts and avenues of ornamental cherries, these being particularly colourful in the spring.

Facilities

Playground.
