Description

This sizeable public park contains formal planted shrubbery, tennis courts, a children’s play area and a large expanse of amenity grassland. Kensington Memorial Park won a Green Flag Award again in 20089.

Wildlife

A small patch of more diverse, unmown grass behind the tennis courts contains a good variety of grasses, including cock's-foot, timothy, Yorkshire fog, perennial rye-grass, false oat-grass, wall barley and red fescue, with abundant yarrow and ribwort plantain in an undisturbed sunny spot. The hedges on the northern and western sides of the park are planted with native species including field maple, hawthorn and blackthorn.
