Wildlife

The rough grassland to the north of the site provides habitat for butterflies and moths. The woodland is surprisingly wild for an urban area, and includes a line of fine oaks - remnants of an ancient hedgeline. Some exotic species do survive, leftover from the days of the spa. The woodland canopy contains a range of trees. Shrubs growing here include holly, hawthorn, elder and blackthorn. A few bluebells thrive at the entrance to the wood.
