Coppermill Down comprises the only extensive area of natural chalk grassland in north London. This supports numerous colourful wildflowers and is included within the Mid Colne Valley Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Description
Wildlife
The site boasts typical downland species such as upright brome, dwarf thistle, salad burnet, fairy flax and cowslip. Other locally uncommon plants include common calamint, common restharrow and deadly nightshade. Several species of orchids occur, including pyramidal and bee. There are also many insects to see, including marbled white and common blue butterflies.Facilities
