Description

These are the grounds of the UK’s foremost Thai wat, or temple, in one of the original landscaped estates near Wimbledon Parkside. It is the setting of several colourful festivals, including Songkran in April and Loy-kratong in November.

Wildlife

There is a large pond here, fed by a natural spring, as well as woodland and shrubbery. These are excellent habitats for birds and bats, including the Daubenton's bat, which can be seen skimming the water surface for insects on a summer evening. From the pond the spring flows downhill underground to emerge as one of the tributaries of the Wimbledon Park Brook.
