Description

Hainault Forest Country Park covers more than 300 acres, with a fishing lake, a rare breeds farm and many walks and bridleways. Wildlife conservation is actively promoted here and a range of events and activities are on offer throughout the year.The whole of the country park (with the exception of the main woodland – a Metropolitan site described as Hainault Forest) is included within the site.Redbridge Walk to Health Initiative uses this site – a Walking the Way to Health (WHI) scheme; see link for details.

Wildlife

The site has considerable areas of woodland, younger than Hainault Forest and with a large number of non-native species throughout. There are also some interesting grassland habitats. The lake supports breeding waterfowl, including coot, moorhen and Canada goose.The site is also important for a wide range of birds of both woodland and open country, sharing many species with the adjacent Fairlop Plain and Hainault Forest.

Facilities

Animalbird enclosure. Horse-riding. The London LOOP passes through the site.
