A small isolated remnant of nearby Hainault Forest, this site comprises oak and hornbeam woodland together with areas of grassland and scrub. There have been a number of exotic species planted in the woodland. The site is Redbridge’s first Local Nature Reserve, and has a well established environmental education function. The original Lodge was pulled down but remains of the gardens and orchards still exist, and the latter are particularly interesting for a large black mulberry growing there.
