Hargreaves Scout Camp contains areas of grassland, parts of which are seasonally flooded by the Seven Kings Water. Consequently the camp contains some damp willow woodland. The Seven Kings Water runs through the western edge of the site, and supports a reasonable diversity of aquatic vegetation. To the south of the A12 lie the grounds of Goodmayes Hospital, where the small orchard and roughland area make this a pleasant place to convalesce in summer. This is the only section of the site which is freely accessible, however. The nearby Seven Kings Park is used by the Redbridge Walk to Health Initiative a Walking the Way to Health (WHI) scheme; see link for details.

Description
Wildlife
The willow woodland in the scout camp contains a substantial population of ragged-robin, a relatively scarce plant in London. This woodland also supports a good variety of lichens, although these have not been studied in detail. Breeding birds include sparrowhawk, great spotted woodpecker and sedge warbler. The riverbanks support purple-loosestrife, branched bur-reed and water-plantain. Below its surface is a good community of fish and aquatic insects, and kingfishers are also seen regularly.Facilities
