This stretch of the River Roding has a strong tidal influence. Its banks are largely vertical, with sections of brick wall and steel sheet-piling, and this stretch is less ecologically interesting than the River Roding further north (described separately as a Metropolitan site). The site continues south of the borough boundary as the River Roding in Barking. The best places to see the river here are from Mayville Road southwards as far as the railway line. On the western side, the A406 prevents any access to this section.

Description
Wildlife
A narrow strip of reeds in the north of this section expands to a maximum width of four metres, the most extensive reedbed in Redbridge borough. The presence of sea aster indicates the tidal influence. The river supports a good community of fish here.Facilities
