Description
Wildlife
There are surviving hawthorn and mixed hedges left over from the former farming landscape, and tree lines of mature oaks indicate the location of other former hedges. These trees and shrubs are an important source of food and shelter for birds. Otherwise, most of the park consists of closely-mown amenity grassland. The grassland is dominated by perennial rye-grass in most areas with frequent red fescue and occasional cock's-foot. Abundant forbs included yarrow, ribwort plantain and daisy with frequent white clover and spotted medick, a London notable species. Other species recorded include dove's-foot crane's-bill, small-flowered crane's-bill another London notable, bulbous buttercup and creeping buttercup. A small area in the south is not frequently mown and consists of scrub and rough grassland.Facilities
