Description

In this site are two features of particular wildlife value. The first is a war memorial with a circular area of damp grassland. The second feature is Stag Lane, a green lane leading from the playing fields to Wimbledon Common.The site is managed by the Wimbledon and Putney Commons Conservators.

Wildlife

Creeping bent and creeping soft-grass dominate the damp grassland. A range of common wildflowers typical of damp neutral grassland grows here. It is surrounded by a hawthorn hedge. A fine old hedgerow of hawthorn, elder, holly and elm, with several large boundary oaks, borders Stag Lane.
