Wildlife

This site has a fine range of scattered trees includes sycamore, ash, holly, field maple and wild cherry. There is a relatively large and well-stocked pond, known to harbour a healthy population of smooth newts. Marginal vegetation is plentiful and includes purple loosestrife, reed sweet grass, water mint, yellow iris, water forget-me-not, water avens, brooklime and mare's-tail. Behind the pond is a 'wild area', consisting of developing woodland and scrub, including young crack willow, silver birch, hazel, elder and hawthorn.
