Wildlife

The nature conservation interest of the site is scattered through small patches of other habitats within the playing fields. Areas of woodland contain some fine old pollarded oaks, which are probably ancient boundary trees, as well as silver birch, sycamore, ash, willow and hornbeam. There are also areas of scrub, rough grassland and tall herbs, with a fairly diverse flora, including a large colony of shining crane's-bill, which is rare in London. The site supports an impressive range of birds and invertebrates.
