This small, probably ancient woodland lies within a built up area of Harold Hill and is consequently popular for informal recreation.

Wildlife

Ash is the most common tree with lesser numbers of pedunculate oak, hornbeam, sycamore and hawthorn. There are several old hornbeam coppice stools towards the centre of the wood. The shrub layer is well developed with young sycamore, ash, hawthorn, dog rose and bramble. The ground flora is predominantly nettle, wood avens and various woodland grasses, with dog's mercury associated with the coppiced area. A ditch runs from east to west across the centre of site.
