Description

This hilltop site includes open grazed pasture, dense scrub and woodland, a large stock pond and some old boundary hedgerows.

Wildlife

The grassland here shows signs of old permanent pasture, supporting some yellow-rattle, but is heavily over-grazed by the horses belonging to tenant graziers. Boundary hedges support several mature oak trees. A thick belt of scrub and young woodland consists of sycamore, hawthorn and common gorse.Breeding birds include linnet and bullfinch, both declining species in the UK.
