Description

This valuable open space in the centre of Sutton has several features including some mature trees and interesting gravestone lichens.

Wildlife

The main interest in the site is in the mature trees and gravestone lichens, with good specimens of yew, cedar, ash and holly. The grassland is mostly shaded but still has reasonable species diversity with common knapweed, smooth hawk's-beard, autumnal and rough hawkbits, and burnet saxifrage. The lichen flora on the older gravestones is also of interest.
