Description

This site is made up of a large golf course and the historic trackway leading from it. The golf course contains small pockets of woodland, in one of which is a shallow pond. Numerous veteran oak trees are scattered between the fairways. The roughs between the fairways contain some relict areas of acid grassland habitat. Also included within the site is Cox’s Walk, a footpath lined with old oaks that leads from the northeast corner of the golf course down to Lordship Lane. There is access to Cox’s Walk, but not to the golf course.

Wildlife

The oak trees on Cox's Walk, and those on nearby playing fields just outside the site, support colonies of the locally uncommon insects; purple hairstreak butterfly and the scarce silver-lines moth.
