We are excited to announce the launch of GiGL’s new 2025–2027 strategy, reaffirming our mission as a social enterprise to collaborate with our community and professional networks to ensure London’s natural environment is understood, protected, improved, and enjoyed for the benefit of all.
GiGL first became a records centre under London Wildlife Trust in 2006, so as we prepare to celebrate our 20 year anniversary in 2026, we remain committed to being the recognised steward of data for Greater London’s natural environment. Our vision is a future where every decision affecting London’s natural environment is informed by a robust evidence base and a genuine commitment to the well-being of people and nature.
As a Community Interest Company (CIC) and social enterprise registered with Social Enterprise UK, GiGL exists to benefit the community rather than private shareholders. We deliver social impact by investing in good data stewardship, developing and providing access to data, and helping our stakeholders make informed decisions. Profits are reinvested into improving our services and data stewardship for the benefit of all, read our latest GiGLer articles for an introduction to social enterprises and to hear more about how we deliver social impact.
We’re proud to share our ambitions for our community, our services, and our future as a social enterprise in our new strategy, and we look forward to celebrating our upcoming 20th anniversary with all our valued stakeholders!
