Greenspace Information for Greater London CIC (GiGL) is recruiting for a Nature Recovery Data Officer to join our team and help deliver our vision of London’s natural environment being appreciated, understood, considered, and improved. If you are an innovative thinker with a passion for data and London’s natural environment, and believe that decision-making based on good quality information is vital, don’t miss this exciting opportunity to join GiGL.

This role is an opportunity for the right person to lead the collation and provision of data that will underpin the creation of the London Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS), developing a range of data, information and answer services alongside the rest of the GiGL team. The post is a full time position for 12 months.

Communication skills and practical ecology knowledge will be key to engage with stakeholders involved in nature and environmental data, from collection through to use. The role will involve liaising with a variety of stakeholders including Local Planning Authorities, community groups, conservation organisations, and other land holders.

You will work closely with the Greater London Authority, who are the Responsible Authority for the LNRS in London. One day per week will be spent working at the GLA’s offices to facilitate cross-organisation information sharing.

The successful candidate will be a proficient user of Microsoft Office applications and have a good understanding of habitat and species survey methodologies/classification systems and nature conservation best practice. Eligibility for membership of CIEEM and a working knowledge of ArcMap desktop or ArcGIS Pro is an advantage.
