Description

Tookey Close open space presents a number of wildlife habitats, particularly along the south margin where naturalised clumps of shrubs and young trees grow among patches of rough grassland. On the southern margin of the open space, an old green lane connects with the footbridge over the Jubilee line leading to Fryent Country Park.

Wildlife

Scrub within the open space includes silver birch, hawthorn, hazel, alder, spindle, elder and elm. Other flora includes roses, white dead-nettle, red fescue, spear-leaved orache and stinging nettle. The presence of sparrowhawks can be detected by the alarm calls from the abundant birdlife.
