Description

This small, publically accessible woodland has some important plants and birds and a number of damper flushes, adding to its diversity.

Wildlife

The woodland is dominated by oak with elm, sycamore, alder and sweet chestnut. At ground-level there is much bramble, although bluebell, dog mercury, pignut and wood anemone are also present, the latter suggesting that the wood has ancient origins. The flushes contain rushes, meadowsweet and great willowherb, along with square-stalked St John's-wort and lesser water-parsnip.
