Access: Free public access (all/most of site)
Area: 0.62 ha

Description

This attractive churchyard on the busy Hastings Road has a good variety of ferns on the walls and lichens on the tombstones.

Wildlife

The churchyard has a fine flora on the flint boundary walls, including several London notable species, the ferns intermediate polypody, maidenhair spleenwort, wall-rue and black, as well as thyme-leaved sandwort. Rustyback fern was recorded in the 1980s, but appears to be lost. A good diversity of lichens occurs on the tombstones. The grassland is not of particular botanical interest, but was noted for populations of common lizard and slow worm, which may still occur.
