This is a former playing field, surrounded on two sides by the ancient woodland of Shepherdleas Wood (see Shooters Hill Woodlands). It now consists of rough grassland with some scrub and numerous young trees colonising from the adjacent woodland. The site makes a valuable contribution to the complex of habitats around the Shooters Hill Woodlands.
