This small wood is a remnant of a larger area of woodland on the opposite side of Granville Road, redeveloped for housing in the 1990s. The site is well used for environmental education by the nearby St Aidan’s Primary School, and an information board has been installed.

Wildlife
The canopy is dominated by sycamore, with an unusual range of planted trees including three fine specimens of the hybrid between rowan and whitebeam. The shrub layer includes wild plum, hawthorn and hazel, with a ground flora dominated by bramble and cow parsley. A range of other woodland flowers, including ramsons and three-cornered leek have been planted and are now well naturalised.Facilities
