Description

This site is made up of dense woodland, grassland and scrub on a steep hillside, with open grassland at the top of the hill. Narrow paths wind across the site.

Wildlife

The woodland is dominated by pedunculate oak, bramble and common hawthorn. Honeysuckle is abundant. Common nettle and dog rose grow in the woods, along with wood avens and rosebay willowherb.Nectar-feeding insects are abundant on the brambles in sunny but sheltered situations.The grassland at the top of the hill is quite rich in wildflowers. There is an area of fine grasses such as sheep's fescue, suggesting drier acid soils. A variety of taller plants and trees include rosebay willowherb, rowan and naturalised orange ball tree.
