Description

Raleigh Park is a new landscaped park with large areas of wildflower seeded grassland and stands of young native trees.

Wildlife

Raleigh Park was landscaped in the early 1990s. Its reseeded grassland has a wide range of wildflowers, such as wild carrot, clovers, vetches, crane's-bills and composites. These in turn house a rich diversity of insect life, especially those preferring the warm, free-draining gravels found on the site. These include ground nesting bees and wasps, grasshoppers and spiders including the spectacular wasp spider. There are also areas of planted scrub and woodland of native species that will provide further habitats for birds and other animals.
