Wildlife

The woodland is dominated by ash and sycamore with occasional lime and pedunculate and turkey oaks. There are also a few large beech and sweet chestnut trees with areas of rot. Several fallen trees provide further dead wood habitat. The dense shrub layer, predominately of holly and suckering English elm, provides valuable nesting habitat for birds. There are also some large coppiced hazels and occasional clumps of bamboo. At ground-level plants include ivy, nettle, bramble, cow parsley, foxglove, herb-Robert and male fern.
