Description
Wildlife
Ash is dominant in the majority of the wood, some of which is suffering from die-back. Areas of mature hornbeam coppice occur in the north. The western part (known as Wormwalk Shaw) contains more oak and hazel, with a field layer of bracken and bluebell. Further plants of the woodland floor include frequent bluebell, dog's mercury, ground ivy and occasional moschatel. There are several glades within the wood and a mown trackway runs through the centre. The ditch-and-bank follows the western boundary, topped by large oak and hornbeam trees, and there is a stream along the southern boundary. Breeding birds include hobby and sparrowhawk.Facilities
