Paine's Lane Cemetery
Borough: Harrow
Grade: Local
Access: Free public access (all/most of site)
Area: 0.98 ha

Description

An attractive and peaceful cemetery with flowery grassland, scrub and some fine trees, situated a few minutes walk from Pinner shopping centre.

Wildlife

Low intensity grass cutting is one of the keys to the site's value, and remote spiked, grey and hairy sedge all grow here alongside bird's-foot-trefoil and tansy. Violets frequently grow on the gravestones, and there is an owl box on site, as well as marginal and secluded roughland areas with dog-rose, elder and blackthorn. Some fine cedars enhance the centre of the site.
